What Schools Say

Back to School party makes such a difference for our kids. They are so excited when they hear they’ve been chosen to attend - they’ve heard stories of the fun at the party, have seen what others have received the year before and look forward to their chance.  These tamariki arrive at school on the first day of the year wearing their new t-shirt, hat and shoes. They’re keen to show off their new bags and lunchboxes and have every piece of stationery they need to start learning on day one. They’re excited and ready for the new school year!

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about volunteering with our Back to School programme.

What is the commitment?

The commitment will vary depending on what role you are volunteering for. Some roles are for Party Day only whilst other roles undertaken in the lead up to Back to School may require a larger commitment. See individual job descriptions for more detail. We appreciate any time you can offer, whether it’s a few hours or more.

What are the benefits?

Volunteering offers a chance to make a positive impact in the community. You’ll gain valuable experience and skills, have fun, and meet like-minded people. Plus, it’s a rewarding way to give back and support children in need.

How can I help?

You can help by signing up to volunteer, donating supplies, or spreading the word. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Join us in supporting children as they prepare for a successful school year.

Can I volunteer remotely?

Yes, there are some volunteering opportunities that allow you to contribute from home. Tasks may include administrative support or fundraising/sponsorship efforts. Contact us to learn more about available remote roles.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

We welcome volunteers from all age groups. Some roles will be more suited to adults due to the nature of the tasks involved. Check with us if you are unsure if a role you are interested in is okay for you.

Will I get the volunteer role I want?

We will do our best to give you the volunteer role that you would like. From time to time however, we may need to ask volunteers to serve in a different area so that we have enough volunteers to ensure all areas are fully resourced. Every task is valuable to the success of Back to School and so we encourage you to give something new a try if needed.

What if I change my mind and can’t volunteer?

That’s okay, we understand that circumstances change. Just let us know as soon as you can that you will no longer be available.
